first_img Canned food drive The Student-Athlete Advisory Council will hold a canned food drive on Tuesday at George Allen Field in conjunction with the 49ers women’s soccer game against the University of Idaho. Kickoff is 3 p.m. and anyone who brings canned food will get into the game for free. All foods will be donated to the Catholic Charities in Long Beach for families in the Long Beach community. You’re all set!center_img The 49er men’s golf team will be competing this weekend at the Fresno Lexus Bulldog Classic on Saturday and Sunday at the San Joaquin Country Club. This is the 49ers’ third tournament of the fall, as they finished fifth at the Northwest Collegiate Classic and tied for third at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational. The 49ers are currently ranked No. 75 in the country in the latest Golfweek rankings. Torres passes away Former assistant baseball coach Dave Torres passed away on Oct. 7 of cancer of the esophagus. Torres was an assistant coach at LBSU for seven years (1981-88) under coach John Gonsalves. Torres served as the 49ers hitting coach. last_img
