Simon Oliveira, the managing director of leading entertainment and sporting agency Doyen Global, says its partnership with local football academy Phoenix will help it make the next step in transforming the academy into a world-class institution.Oliveira, who spoke via Skype at the press launch to announce plans by Phoenix to build a state-of-the-art football academy – based on the model of French club Lille – on 14 acres of land in Trelawny at the Spanish Court Hotel yesterday, told the gathering that they were very excited about the partnership.incredibly fortunate”We are all very excited about the new partnership. We have a great partner in Craig (Butler). Now we are looking forward to the academy and growing into something good. This is incredibly fortunate, not just for the community. It’s a standard-bearer, which will shine a light on how things should be done and taught anywhere in the world, so we are very excited at Doyen about going the distance,” he stated.”Craig has partnered with Doyen Global for years, and we have stayed with the process until it became a reality. What we have done to professional sport in Europe is bring superior guidance to players and managers in the right way, and our partnership with Craig and the academy is a next stage, and we are proud of this,” he added.Butler is confident that the internationally renown agency, which has managed the affairs of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Alvaro Morata, David Beckham, and Novak Djokovic, among others, will help them make that next step.”Doyen has the experience, and at this time, to be able to partner with Doyen and its partners is helping us make the next step. We have a minimum of 20 elite players, and I myself cannot give them all that they need in terms of management, so we have Doyen,” he added.

Families of two Dalit children who were allegedly killed for defecating in the open in Bhavkhedi village in Shivpuri district would be moved into two houses in the city, Congress leader Jyotiradtiya Scindia has said.“I had promised them that I will leave the village only after settling them in Shivpuri,” Mr. Scindia told reporters. “For now, they have been moved into two temporary houses having a room, a kitchen and a courtyard each…Nothing can cure the deep wounds the family has suffered. But being people’s servants, the least we can do is bring them succour,” he said. The construction of permanent houses would at least take a month, Mr. Scindia told the family. “I am going to pay ₹5 – 5.5 lakh from my own pocket for it,” he added. Besides, he said, adult members of the family would be given employment, and children their education. “Both the families will start staying at the houses from tomorrow,” Mr. Scindia tweeted on Monday, after meeting the families. Two houses had been arranged for the families, he said, besides ensuring their adult members employment and children their education. The houses would be allotted to them under a government scheme, District Deputy Collector Manoj Garwal told The Hindu. “As for a job, we will have to see what kind of work they will be able to do. Most probably, it will be a daily wage job,” he said. Besides, Mr. Scindia on Monday wrote to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath appealing to him to provide lifetime support to the families as they “belonged to the Dalit community” and were “poor”.Requesting assistance on humanitarian ground, he said both the families should be given 10 ‘bigha’ land each. Moreover, “immediate financial support of ₹50 lakh each for the affected families was important”.On September 25, as the two children were defecating in the open along a village road, two Yadav men struck lathis on their heads, killing them. They were later arrested.During an interaction with Mr. Scindia, the father of one of the victims pleaded with him for a house outside the village. “I am going mad here. I may consume poison. I want justice,” he said. The father of one of the victims had earlier told The Hindu the family had lived in fear since then and had decided to leave the village fearing intimidation by the family of the accused.“I don’t see people of my region on religious or caste lines. Only a cruel person could commit something like this… I cannot believe someone in my region could even think of doing something like this,” Mr. Scindia told the father.

READ: NBA: Paul goes from Clippers to Rockets in blockbuster dealOther targets, if the Wolves can clear room, include J.J. Redick and Paul Millsap.Rubio has been at the center of trade rumors for years, and one finally came to fruition.Rubio was drafted in 2009, but did not come over from Spain until 2011, electrifying a stagnant franchise with his enthusiasm and no-look passes while also suffering through losing season after losing season. Teaming with Kevin Love, Rubio had the Wolves in position to make the playoffs in the Western Conference as a rookie when he tore the ACL in his knee in a game against the Lakers in March 2012.Rubio also missed 60 games in 2014-15 with a severely sprained ankle that required surgery. The two major injuries affected his ability to work out during the summers, when players often make the biggest strides in developing their games.READ: Garnett will kill for his teammates, says Rubio Finally, in year No. 6, Rubio started to show signs of his potential. Over the last 2 1/2 months of the season, he averaged 15.0 points and 10.3 assists while shooting 41.7 percent from the field and 37 percent from 3-point range, helping to take some of the scoring load after Zach LaVine went down with his own torn ACL.The performance was validating for a player who had been criticized during most of his NBA career for his poor shooting, and for an owner who had backed him through all the injuries, all the shooting struggles and through the heartbreaking death of his mother during the 2015-16 season. Glen Taylor and Rubio had grown close over the years, and Taylor very much wanted to keep Rubio as the passer with the new nucleus of Butler, Towns and Wiggins. The constant rumors were strain on Rubio, especially this season when Thibodeau took over as coach and president of basketball operations.Thibodeau had long been known to prefer point guards with more of a scoring mentality and had success with those types of players — Derrick Rose, D.J. Augustin, Nate Robinson — in Chicago. As the rumors heated up in February with talks with the Knicks centered on a Rubio-for-Rose swap, the Spaniard thought his time in Minnesota was coming to an end. Thibodeau ultimately decided to pass on the deal. Rubio wanted a conversation with Thibodeau to seek clarity on the issue, and perhaps receive a vote of confidence, but that never occurred. Once the season ended with a disappointing 31 victories and the 13th straight trip to the lottery, Rubio quietly let it be known to the organization that he would welcome a change of scenery if they felt there was a better point guard for Thibodeau’s system. After six straight years of losing, he joins a top-flight franchise on the rise. If the Jazz can hold on to Hayward and make a few more moves, they will be considered an upper tier Western Conference team.Rubio’s defensive prowess should mesh well with coach Quin Snyder and center Rudy Gobert, and his playmaking will be a big boost for a team with young talent on the wings. Hill averaged a career-high 16.9 points after being acquired from Indiana last summer. Injuries, however, limited him to 49 games and caused Hill to miss the final three playoff games against Golden State. The deal means Minnesota can clear as much as $32 million in cap space to make a run at several free agents to pair with Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins and the recently acquired Jimmy Butler. They started with Teague, a more consistent shooter at point guard than is Rubio, which makes him a better fit for Tom Thibodeau’s system. Teague averaged 15.3 points and a career-high 7.8 assists for the Indiana Pacers last season. OTTAWA – Hidden away somewhere on Parliament Hill is the bronzed relief of Lt.-Col. Samuel Sharpe.Finished two years ago, the sculpture appeared destined for a spot in the foyer outside the House of Commons to commemorate the former MP and recognize all Canadian veterans struggling with psychological injuries.Yet despite mounting calls for the Trudeau government to have it unveiled, the sculpture remains in storage, raising fears that Sharpe and other veterans suffering with mental trauma won’t get the recognition they deserve.“He was hospitalized and then sadly he died by suicide,” said Conservative MP Erin O’Toole, who occupies Sharpe’s old seat and, as veterans affairs minister in 2015, first started the push to recognize the former MP.“Let’s use that sad legacy to help people today make sure they come forward to get help. It’s not a political project; it’s the right thing to do.”Sharpe was a sitting member of Parliament when he helped raise the Canadian Expeditionary Force’s 116th battalion and then headed overseas to command the unit during the First World War.Not only was Sharpe involved in some of the biggest and bloodiest Canadian battles of the First World War, he was re-elected in absentia only a few weeks after Passchendaele, where he received an award for gallantry. But Sharpe would never retake his seat. The strain and trauma of Passchendaele, where more than 16,000 Canadians were killed or wounded, including one of his closest friends, would be too much.Sharpe was hospitalized for “nervous shock” a few months later and returned to Canada. On May 25, 1918, he jumped from a window at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal and killed himself. There is already a sculpture in the foyer dedicated to the only serving MP to have died in combat; Lt.-Col. George Baker was killed during the Battle of Mount Sorrel in June 1916, and his statue was erected in 1924.But O’Toole, whose tenure as veterans affairs minister was dominated by concerns about vets suffering from psychological injuries, felt it was time to honour Sharpe — and send a message of support to those in need.“By talking about it, and by putting a small plaque up to honour him, we’re going to show that we recognize there can be mental injuries just as severe as physical injuries from war,” O’Toole said Wednesday. The initiative received support from the Liberals and NDP, as well as retired lieutenant-general Romeo Dallaire, whose experience in Rwanda and subsequent struggle with PTSD are known to many Canadians.“Putting a commemoration plaque not far from Baker’s is to recognize that they don’t all die on the battlefield. A bunch of them die at home from injuries of the battlefield,” Dallaire said. “And it should not be hidden away.”Several Liberal MPs have also quietly come out in favour of the project.Yet the space originally set aside for the relief, which was created by artist Tyler Briley, who himself has struggled with PTSD from his days as a firefighter, remains empty. The sculpture’s fate currently lies with Veterans Affairs Minister Seamus O’Regan, who will have to bring the matter to the House of Commons and Speaker Geoff Regan if he wants it in the foyer.Spokesman Alex Wellstead said O’Regan’s commemoration advisory group, which is comprised of veterans and other stakeholders, are reviewing the matter and will come up with a recommendation on where it should go.Wellstead would not say when a decision will be made, but Dallaire said he has heard some advisory group members are worried the Sharpe statue will be seen as glorifying suicide, which he called a “cop-out.”One Liberal MP who supports the sculpture being placed in the foyer said he has also heard that officials are weighing whether to put the sculpture in a mental-health facility for veterans or inside the minister’s office.O’Toole said his concern is that the Liberals are dragging their feet because they associate the initiative with the previous Conservative government, even though it had support from all parties in 2015.And with Centre Block set to close next summer for 10 years of renovations, the fear is that Sharpe will be forgotten again if the sculpture isn’t erected soon.“He deserves his place on the wall,” O’Toole said.“And if the minister wants to cancel this project, he should come out and say he’s cancelling this project. Don’t defer to some committee of veterans or political excuses. Take ownership.”— Follow @leeberthiaume on Twitter.

Real Madrid legend Michel Salgado has admitted that Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure this summer will “hurt” him and he also conceded that the lowering of the release clause has left him “worried”The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been linked with a sensational €100m move to Juventus this summer with the latest reports suggesting that a deal is close to being completed.Salgado, who left Real at the same time as Ronaldo arrived for a then-world record transfer fee of €94m from Manchester United in 2009, is troubled by the fact that the 33-year-old may very well be on his way out.“Personally, if he is going, it will hurt me because I have been with him for six months,” said Salgado, according to SportsKeeda.Fiorentina owner: “Ribery played better than Ronaldo!” Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso was left gushing over Franck Ribery’s performance against Juventus, which he rates above that of even Cristiano Ronaldo’s.“He was leaving his mark in Real Madrid or he is still doing it, but I know him pretty much, and when he takes a decision he goes ahead no matter the consequences.“But, if Cristiano is not going, we will have him for the biggest moments because he is a phenomenon. But if he finally decides to go, we have to wish him all the best and thank him for everything.“I am worried that he is going but that is a personal decision and lowering the release clause worried me as well.”Salgado spent 10 years of his playing career at Real between 1999 and 2009, where he won four La Liga titles and two Champions League crowns in that period.
